Released March 19 1971. *1st all original music, *took 2 months to record. *The first Eddie Offord produced LP.*Steve Howe considered Eddie, " The Perfect Engineer" **From Close To The Edge, Labor Day Special, 1991 Jon says of The song -Your Move- "I believe that everything happens to you is supposed to. Even the bad - it's supposed to happen in order to make you learn or make you understand things and that could be easily equated with the game of life and I think that's what I was trying to get at when I was writing that. It's a discussion with God - basically. You can move me onto any black square. Any strange moment and I will survive because your time is in time with my time and it's captured for the Queen to use. The queen is Mother Earth." Your Move was written in an hour.*
I've Seen All Good People-"There was a definite idea to have a developing quiet song and then just break open to a full church organ sorta thing, and grandoise, very, very big - massive, infact."Jon Anderson from In the Studio, The Yes Album

"Love comes to you_and you follow,_ Lose one on to the Heart Of The Sunrise. Sharp Distance,_How can the wind_with its arms_all around me."
From the song, Heart Of The Sunrise.Words and music by Jon Anderson, Chris Squire and Bill Bruford, © 1971, 1972 Topographic Music Limited and Rondor Music LTD.
Released Nov 1, Jan 4th, 1972, US *Features 4 major songs from Yes, *then a solo from each member in the band.*The first day Rick Wakeman is in the studio with Yes, they put together the songs, Roundabout and Heart Of The Sunrise. Steve needed a ride home that night and Rick told him I go past there - I can drop you off. As Steve was getting out of the car, Rick told Steve he'll pick him up in the morning, nothing more was said of Rick joining Yes! *1st LP with Roger Dean artwork, it was Steve who introduced Dean's artwork to Anderson, the rest is history! *The song Roundabout is about coming home to England, via Aberdine and Glasglow Scotland (Loch Ness). The ending, is actually the song, Three Blind Mice, played over a melody 8 times. The edit of Roundabout became the 1st single for Yes. *The song, South Side of The Sky, was inspired to Jon by an article he read stating, "Sleep is death's little sister", that death is just a transitional stage to something greater, death is an extension of life. "Life is beautiful, why shouldn't death be beautiful. Let death be an extension of life. We keep climbing that mountain, we keep pushing harder and harder to reach the top of the mountain. When in order to reach the top, you have to go through transitions. Maybe one that is eternal sleep, or that next life ___. It's very mystical." Jon Anderson from In The Studio - Fragile.*The song, Long Distance Runaround, is about religion, that religion is based upon fear and confusion. Jon interpets the song by saying, "The sound of reality, the sound of God." *Rick Wakeman's song, Cans And Brahms(Brahms), is the first successful attempt at recreating orchestral sounds on electronic keyboards, but also a gamble by putting a classical piece on a rock LP. *From Yes Fragile period - song that did not make LP, Chris Squire's song, "Fragile".*"I was always convinced then when we did Fragile, and all the time that we were writing it, recording it, putting it together, that it was something very very special. " Rick Wakemen from In The Studio - Fragile.
